hermione98765 / This question balciasly is looking to see if you should itemize your deductions or take the standard deduction. When you itemize, one of the things itemized is how much in taxes you paid to the states last year. They can figure out how much you paid from your paystub. They also want to know though, if you owed any money on your 2006 tax return that you paid then, because that counts towards income taxes paid in 2007 for itemized deduction purposes. So what this question is asking is:- Did you owe any income tax on last years return that you paid.- Did you pay any back income taxes on last years return.- The key is that it's *state* income taxes. They don't care whether you owed / paid any federal income tax last year.Nothing too sinister.

What kind of savings aconcut? If this is a regular aconcut at the bank, you pay tax on the interest income each year but nothing when you take the money out.If it's a brokerage aconcut invested in mutual funds, then there can be capital gains when the mutual funds are sold (and you have to sell them to get the money out). The tax is only on the GAIN, not the entire amount. Commonly called UGMA and UTMA aconcuts. If this is a tax deferred savings aconcut (529 plan or coverdell ESA), then you don't pay taxes each year, but then look at what the money is spent on when it's withdrawn. If it's used for qualified educational expenses, it's tax exempt. If not, tax + 10% penalty.

Chin T / The largest prbloem this country is now facing is that Obama will not allow us to manufacture anything, he is bought off by the globalist who are going to have him sign the Kyoto Protocol at a 13.9% reduction in all emissions. Hence our dollar which is a promissory note for grains of silver, (or should I say a promissory note for a promissory note) will soon be worth about as much as a rock.Trade your money in NOW for a commodity that will maintain value, the US is finished.

Worldly25 / When you add what you posted plus all the tax alrdaey added onto utility bills and registrations and licensing fees (just another name for tax) we are alrdaey past 60%. There is not one thing we do that is not taxed by some municipality in one way or another. We will keep working since we do like eating.

The 50% you always refer to is a bizrrae exageration of facts. All working people pay payroll taxes. But 50% of the country is either unemployed or don't make enough to show a taxable income at the end of the year so they get a refund. That refund is still a contribution to the tax base because it goes to washington and pays the bills until it is refunded. As for those that don't make enough income to pay tax and instead get a refund, or are unemployed, they still pay State, Local and Federal sales taxes just like everyone else. In fact, every single person that buys anything pays taxes in some form or another. If you look at the % of income that goes towards taxes, the less you earn the more you pay as a % of your income towards sales tax, MFT, toll fees, transfer taxes, property taxes, etc. It's a lot like your math on the increase in State income tax. Use the same math to figure out the % of income low wage earners pay. I'm not advocating more taxes, I'm an advocate for reducing deliberate tax avoidance. As the article states, corporate tax rates can be reduced while at the same time ending the practive of offshore accounts. If we all play fair, we all pay less.

I can't wait for camp!!! I've had a great time going for the past two summers and am dtienfeely looking forward to going again this summer. The facilities, activities, and friends you make are great, but its all because of the counselors:) I get closer to god in camp's Christian atmosphere and have an amazing time while doing so. Can't wait to go back:)
